I use it as a work tool to exchange and share comps. I love the simplicity and sound quality. It's easier to implement than a studio mic. And above all, it allows me to work guitar and voice and more than record one track after another. I can also have my separate tracks for voice / guitar and general ambiance, knowing that later I can mix the four simultaneous tracks.

One of the best recorders on the market at this price. I especially recommend it for its great ergonomics with its very practical front panel potentiometers. The included XYH-5 capsule delivers very good results. However, be aware that this capsule is very sensitive to wind outdoors and plosives during voice recording. Plan for a furry windshield and a pop filter.

Musician concerned about the quality of my recordings, I have long used Zoom portable recorders. The H5 perfectly meets my needs. I preferred to add the MSH-6 capsule because the original one is far too fragile, as well as the RC4 remote control which facilitates remote handling. It's a pity that the SD memory card is no longer included.

Does what is asked, the pair of mics that comes mounted on it requires pushing the gain quite high (quality OK but nothing more). It is better to prefer condenser mics on XLR with phantom power for better quality capture. Otherwise, ultra simple to use, the interface is good and the sound quality as well.

When asking a salesperson for information, it would be good if they received proper training to answer the questions asked. I had requested a rainproof protective cover to make sound at sea and in the rain. The seller assured me it was provided. When I received my order, of course, there was nothing.

Perfect for podcasting. I wish it were possible to put a cap on top of the microphone when not in use (using external microphones) to lighten the device, reduce its size, and make it more discreet for my podcasts. I haven't found if this exists?

I am very satisfied with the Zoom H5. I was looking for a long-duration stereo recorder to complement my Boss BR-800 which tops out at 9:00 on 1 track with 32GB (advertised 272 hours in the manual, with 32GB...). Here, with the Zoom H5, no bad surprises, I have more than 200 hours in stereo, and the sound quality is excellent!

Impressive quality, ambient noise can be too high (compared to what is shown on the internet) but with a bit of mixing we get decent results. Special mention to the supplied 2GB SD card, Cubase LE 7/Wavelab LE 7 and AA batteries. You can say we got our money's worth. :) EDIT: after a few years of use, the plastic surface becomes sticky and attracts all the dust... I didn't particularly mistreat it, being rather careful with my belongings.
