Description
The SF-24V tube stereo ribbon mic represents the pinnacle of our SF Series stereo mic lineup. The sound is luscious, smooth, and natural, with exceptional stereo imaging and incredible transient response. The tube electronics deliver pristine midrange, unparalleled clarity, and a precise sense of detail, all with a beautiful lightness never before possible in a ribbon mic. Using the same tube electronics as our TEC Award-winning R-122V ribbon mics, the SF-24V is the finest stereo ribbon mic ever designed for true recording connoisseurs.
The SF-24V's independent tube circuitry delivers an output level of -38 dB, perfectly suited to all professional preamplifiers. With an inherent noise floor of less than 18 dB, the SF-24V delivers a completely unobtrusive performance—a quality required for the most demanding classical and acoustic recordings. Like the SF-12, the SF-24V consists of two ribbon microphones matched for their identical characteristics, positioned one above the other at a 45-degree angle from center, in the classic Blumlein configuration. The magnet/pole element structure of each ribbon transducer provides a very wide, linear, and smooth frequency response with no noticeable peaks or dips across the entire curve. In addition, the 1.8-micron ribbons provide superb transient response. Frequency response is excellent regardless of the angle of the sound waves picked up by the ribbons, and off-axis coloration is negligible.
