Pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster® guitars have always cultivated the brand's mythical image while fueling the fantasies of its biggest fans. In early 1964, Fender began manufacturing its Strat® pickups based on a gray inner plate (grey flatwork), and these pickups became known for their particularly punchy sound as well as an increased output level. For collectors, finding a model from this era with these pickups represents a true challenge. However, as Joe Bonamassa discovered, looking beyond the uniqueness of a guitar can lead to the discovery of an absolutely exceptional specimen.
Indeed, before being refinished in this unique and intriguing "Greenburst," this '64 Stratocaster® originally left the workshop with a three-tone Sunburst. The pickups remained original, with that famous gray base. With its powerful sound, playability, and striking look, Joe immediately knew he had a gem in his hands. Fortunately for guitarists worldwide, Joe once again collaborated with the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop to deliver the magical sound of one of his favorite instruments.
The Joe Bonamassa signature "Greenburst" Stratocaster® pickup set is designed based on the exact wiring of the corresponding era and features a non-aligned pole Alnico 5 magnet. The gray bottom plate is printed with Joe's signature, and the first 500 sets come with Custom Limited Edition packaging containing a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Joe and Seymour W. Duncan. Fans have seen the Greenburst Strat® light up the stage on Joe's tours, and now the powerful sound of "the coolest and ugliest guitar" in his collection can be achieved with your own Strat®.
