The LYD series continues the legacy of Dynaudio Pro monitors that have shaped decades of music production, with a clear philosophy: to offer a reliable, long-lasting, and non-fatiguing translation. Compared to historical generations, the LYD refreshes the concept by integrating modern Class D amplification and 24 bit / 96 kHz signal management, while preserving the signatures that made the brand famous: surprisingly solid low-end reproduction at moderate volume, great precision in the midrange (critical area for vocals and guitars), and stability that facilitates mixing decisions. Made in Denmark, the LYD-7 positions itself as a nearfield monitor capable of delivering superior definition, with a very "studio" approach: neutrality, coherence, and practical adjustments to adapt to the listening environment.
The Dynaudio LYD-7 is designed for nearfield monitoring: production, recording, editing, sound design, and mixing, with listening positioned on a desk or stands at close range. Its size and 7-inch woofer make it a relevant choice if you want more foundation than a more compact speaker, while maintaining fast response and excellent transient clarity (kick, snare, bass attacks, vocal consonants). It is especially suitable for producers who work long sessions and want to limit auditory fatigue, as well as studios that need to mix at reasonable volume without losing bass information.
Each speaker features Class D amplification and digital signal processing at 24 bit / 96 kHz. The goal is twofold: maintain a clean and controlled dynamic reserve, and ensure coherence between drivers through DSP control. The result: a stable stereo image, details that stay in place as the mix thickens, and a sense of control that helps quickly decide between two EQ or compression settings.
The LYD-7 combines a 28 mm soft dome tweeter with an MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) woofer. The woofer uses lightweight aluminum voice coils, promoting a fast and precise transient response. This design aims for clean reproduction of low-mids and bass, with a clear attack and easy-to-control sustain, essential for balancing the kick/bass relationship or judging the density of a drum bus.
Because placement and acoustics strongly influence perception, Dynaudio includes simple and effective selectors. Bass Extension allows adjustment of bass extension (in 10 Hz steps), useful for taming a "boomy" room or, conversely, recovering some foundation at low volume. Sound Balance offers three curves (Bright, Neutral, Dark) to adjust overall tonality, helpful if the room is too bright or too dull. Finally, Position (Wall / Free) helps compensate for the proximity effect of a wall when speakers are placed near a surface, improving translation on other systems.
The LYD-7 features balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog inputs, to integrate both with a studio audio interface and simpler sources. The switchable input sensitivity (-6 dB / 0 dB / +6 dB) facilitates gain staging according to your monitor controller. An automatic standby mode reduces power consumption when no signal is detected, convenient in studios to keep the system ready without running it unnecessarily.
