I hesitated a lot about the choice of speakers (notably with the Focal Evo 65 and the Adam T8V). Eternal debate between front or rear events. For my part, I have the possibility not to stick them to a wall. I previously had 4-inch KRK Rocket 5s (a real disaster for me, I never managed to get anything out of them, I do electro production). Considering the size of my room (a converted cellar of about 10 square meters), I also hesitated about the size of the membrane and finally opted for these 8-inch Yamaha in matched pair. I have been using them for 5 weeks now, break-in (I think) finished. They live up to their reputation: straight, reliable, they don't mask anything. The first days were difficult, all the landmarks change, you don't know where you live anymore ;-). The time needed to get used to them, calibrate them (I opted for a -2 dB setting in Room Control to calm the bass that was a bit too much) I am really happy with my choice.... I re-listened to old productions that I only did with headphones (Beyerdynamic DT 770 + Sennheiser HD 600) and I realized how much I ignored a vital world which is the low frequencies. I would summarize by repeating what I saw in comments when making my choice: They are ruthless with bad mixes but become beautifully harmonious and soft with a good mix! I can finally properly calibrate the low frequencies. I have been working on a production with them for 1 month and the feedback I get on the mix is very good in terms of balance. Mixing becomes pleasant, they are not tiring (provided you don't work at high volume for too long). Working at high volume is very useful in spot mode to check that power does not alter the balance. Speaking of power, I never push them too much, no need. I use them with an Audient ID 14 (excellent card by the way) and Logic Pro. In short, go for it, it's a safe bet and the value for money is just.... Excellent... It's professional equipment for me, after all it's always the same thing... It's the place where they will be used that will make all the difference. For my part, they are about a meter from me and spaced about a meter apart and I found the sweet spot. I can FINALLY trust my equipment to be able to move forward and continue to progress. I am happy!... (Show more)
