This clever little accessory is an absolute novelty on the global market for electro-acoustic musical instrument accessories, a device never produced before and finally coming to life thanks to the innovation of Eko Guitars. It is the Piezo Booster, designed and patented by Master luthier Roberto Fontanot. What is it for? Here are the words of Master Fontanot explaining everything:
"Regarding electro-acoustic guitars, piezoelectric pickups use pressure to provide a signal, and without pressure, the pickups do not work while with too much pressure, the pickups saturate and cut out. Due to the incidence and pressure of the strings relative to the bridge (especially after changing strings), the saddle always tends to tilt and therefore position itself at an incorrect angle relative to the piezo pickup: this results in an imbalance of volume between the strings because the bridge saddle itself does not rest evenly on the pickup. The Piezo Booster mechanically brings the bridge back to a perfectly vertical and orthogonal position and thus correctly distributes the pressure on the pickup. The result will be a rebalanced volume between the different strings, and a gain of a few dB on the overall volume."
To use the Piezo Booster correctly, simply place it on the bridge (as shown in the photos) and strike it 2 or 3 times with good force and the bridge will be immediately perfectly realigned. There you go, your piezo pickup is now optimally adjusted once again to perfectly capture all the nuances of your electro-acoustic guitar playing!
