The St. James 100 head and combo represent a revolutionary evolution in tube amplification. Continuing the legacy of the St. James series, the St. James 100 head is the world's lightest 100-watt tube head, and the St. James 100 combo is the world's lightest 2x12" 100-watt tube combo, combining traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. The St. James 100 boasts a range of innovative and unique features, with no compromises.
We had two main goals when designing the St. James amps. First, to produce a range of heads and combos that are as lightweight as possible while retaining the essential elements of traditional tube amps, with no compromises in tone or performance—something guitarists have been asking for for decades. Second, to include everything in a single unit to enable the production of authentic tube amp sounds captured by a microphone in a room, directly into a DI or recording device. This was achieved by using the full amp signal path (including power tubes) to drive a true reactive load, which is then processed through a state-of-the-art proprietary DSP section to provide nearly unlimited variations of cabinet/speaker/mic/room simulations. In line with Blackstar's design philosophy from the start, these products were designed referencing the sounds of traditional and modern tube guitar amps, but we are not slaves to old dogmas regarding components and topologies used. We apply uncompromising care and attention to every detail to achieve the sound and performance we want and that today’s guitarists expect.
