Toontrack Duality I EZX is an expansion pack designed to enrich your productions in EZdrummer and Superior Drummer with a drum sound tailored for hard rock and metal aesthetics. The goal is clear: to provide you with already balanced takes, easy to integrate into a mix, while maintaining an organic character and sonic depth suitable for both heavy riffs and more nuanced passages.
This volume highlights a polarizing sonic identity, to be considered as a natural complement to the other expansion in the series, Duality II EZX. Each pack is relevant on its own, but both make full sense when you want to vary drum colors within the same project or album.
Duality I EZX was designed to provide a solid and immediate drum foundation: clear attacks, dense low mids, and a coherent kit feel. The sounds are crafted to quickly fit into guitar-heavy arrangements while retaining warmth and natural texture that avoid an overly clinical effect.
At the core of the expansion, you have a complete kit with three rack toms and two interchangeable floor toms, ideal for adapting the kit size to the song. The six kick drums and eight snare drums offer a huge palette, whether you're looking for a short, aggressive hit, longer sustain, or a darker grain.
The cymbal selection was designed to cover modern needs (quick articulations, clear attacks, stacks and chinas for accents): two rides, two hi-hats, and thirteen cymbals including crash, china, stack, and splash types. The included presets offer several interpretations of the same basic kit, as well as creative hybrids derived from combinations of kick drums, snares, and additional cymbals, perfect for personalizing your sonic footprint without slowing down your workflow.
To speed up writing, Duality I EZX includes a MIDI library designed for this style of playing: patterns, variations, and fills performed by Alex Landenburg. It's a real time saver for structuring a track, testing groove ideas, or feeding an arrangement before refining the details of the hits.
