Description

Fender American Vintage II 1954 Precision Bass® Electric Bass
The Fender® American Vintage II series is a remarkable revisiting of the groundbreaking designs that changed the course of music history. With period-correct bodies, necks and hardware, high-end finishes and pickups configured to match the year of the original instrument, the guitars and basses in this series bring you the authentic Fender sound and craftsmanship.

The Precision Bass®, the world's first electric bass, represents one of the most important developments in music history. For the first time ever, bassists had access to an amplified instrument that was easy to carry and had precise intonation. As the legendary Quincy Jones said, the Fender bass was "...the technological revolution that changed music forever."

Although it originally shared many design elements with the Telecaster®, including the oversized Tele® neck headstock, "Slab" body and chrome control plate, the P-Bass® evolved to embrace the same generous curves and rounded edges of the all-new Stratocaster®. The American Vintage II 1954 Precision Bass replicates the sound and feel of the original. It comes in two colours: Vintage Blonde and Sunburst 2-tone, with an ash body and a white single-fold pickguard.

The bass also features a maple neck with a more solid "'54 C" profile, a 7.25" (184 mm) radius fingerboard and vintage tall frets. The Pure Vintage bridge with two composite fiber bridges, exposed gear and reverse action tuners, fingerboard rest, and '54 Precision Bass® single-coil pickup give you that signature Fender sound and style.

The American Vintage II series instruments are direct descendants of the original Fender models. They are designed for players who appreciate the brand's signature sound and feel and are built to the highest quality. These are Fender electric guitars and basses in their purest form: Fender American Vintage II, legendary instruments.

Highlights
Ash body
High-gloss nitro-cellulose finish
Pure Vintage '54 Precision® single-coil pickups
C-shaped neck profile
Numbered Pure Vintage Precision Bass® bridge with 2 composite fiber bridges
Pure Vintage exposed gear and reverse rotation tuners
High gloss nitro-cellulose lacquer finish true to vintage designs
Nitro-cellulose varnish, used on Fender instruments in the 1950s and 1960s, is a high-end finish that reveals the true tonal character of the instrument.

Ash body
Ash is a warm sounding wood with beautiful grain and produces clear, bright highs and accurate mids.

Maple fingerboard with 184 mm radius
The 7.25" (184 mm) fingerboard radius provides the comfort of a vintage instrument, while the vintage-tall frets allow for easy bending without curling the strings.

1954 U" neck profile true to vintage models
The shape and thickness of Fender's guitar necks has varied considerably over time. The American Vintage II series offers a variety of historical neck profiles.

Pure Vintage '54 Precision Bass single-coil pickup
Pure Vintage pickups are configured to accurately reproduce the sound and performance of the original models based on their specific year of production. They are manufactured in the same manner as the pickups from Fender's golden age. Materials include fabric-covered cable, composite fibre coils and AlNiCo magnets.

Vintage-style hardware
From the bridge to the tuning machines to the string guide, every piece of hardware on the American Vintage II models is identical to the original models in look, sound and function. Much of the hardware on the American Vintage II models is still made from the original machines that were in the Fender factory in the 1950s and 1960s.
