Description

Marco Polo T500E SO - Solid Spruce & Solid Ovangkol Electro Travel Guitar (with gigbag)

Marco Polo is recognized as one of the greatest explorers in the world. The EKO brand wanted to pay tribute to this Italian pioneer of exploration by designing high-quality travel guitars with the elegance of Italian design. The Marco Polo "Travel" series therefore has reduced dimensions, perfect for traveling and taking a serious instrument with excellent sound everywhere with you. The construction in solid wood for the top and back/sides delivers rich and impeccable sounds, as well as a beautiful acoustic projection. The rosette features engravings of the word "traveler" in different languages to represent the invitation to travel of these guitars, which come with a waterproof gigbag. For the onboard electronics, nothing beats a Fishman Flex Blend system (piezo + condenser microphone) to best reproduce all the tones of your instrument and to mix the two pickups as you wish. The Marco Polo guitars are thus very well-designed travel guitars with an elegant and refined look!

The "traveler" guitar by EKO: solid woods and Italian elegance!

Marco Polo is one of the most famous explorers in the world, and the Italian brand EKO wanted to pay tribute to his legendary journeys and discoveries through a refined series of electroacoustic travel guitars. The Marco Polo "Travel" guitars therefore have a reduced size with a 610 mm scale length to easily transport your instrument and enjoy comfortable playability wherever you are.

The luthiery is designed seriously with quality materials to make no compromise on sound quality and projection. Thus, the top is made of selected solid spruce, coming directly from the Italian Alps. The back and sides are made of solid ovangkol to deliver rich, balanced, and bright sounds in combination with the top. The mahogany neck is topped with a South American roupanà fingerboard with 20 frets, for easy playability with a 43 mm wide bone nut. The rosette offers an elegant and innovative design with laser engraving of the word "traveler" in different languages to convey the invitation to travel of this Travel guitar!

Finally, the glossy finish is elegant and allows the combination of solid woods to express and vibrate. The gold hardware and open tuners with Butterbean buttons complete the guitar’s design with refinement. A resistant and waterproof padded gigbag is delivered with the guitar to facilitate all musical trips and travels safely and elegantly.

High-quality versatile electronics: Fishman Flex Blend!

To enhance the acoustic design of the Marco Polo Travel, nothing is better than an advanced and versatile Fishman preamp system to reproduce all the sonic richness of the carefully selected luthiery. The built-in Flex Blend system is composed of a piezoelectric pickup and an internal condenser microphone, which the electronics allow you to blend as you wish. Perfect to gradually "blend" the internal microphone according to your taste and setup via the dedicated knob.

A press on the right button activates the built-in tuner so you are always perfectly in tune. The system offers controls including a master volume potentiometer, a microphone blend knob to mix the internal microphone with the piezo signal, as well as an equalization potentiometer to manage mid frequencies for a flatter or scooped sound in the mids. Finally, pressing the left potentiometer activates a phase switch to avoid feedback, perfect for all types of amplification.

In summary, EKO offers with its Marco Polo Travel series high-quality travel guitars, with serious luthiery rich in tones, all in a compact and very comfortable format. The ideal guitar to benefit from an elegant and very resonant instrument at a reasonable price considering the quality of the design!

Use
I was looking for a small-bodied electroacoustic guitar with a short scale length to change my playing posture (early tendinitis). The offer is now varied: Martin Junior, Lag travel, Taylor gs mini, etc. Listening to sound tests of different models on the internet, I appreciated the sound of this EKO T500e SO (I prefer spruce tops) and the clearance price at €529 for all solid wood with a good preamp. Comparable format to a 3/4. Good finish. The sound is well balanced and quite powerful, not boxy. Good for picking with, for strumming, an amazing dynamic reserve. Electro-wise, it has everything of a full-size and the mid correction is very practical. I always use a luthier to optimize my new guitars: here it was necessary to lower the action, adjust the neck curvature (key provided), review the intonation of the high E string, reinsert a fret and fix a parasitic vibration problem at the tuner display, all for €50.. hence the missing star. But here is a model to consider for its sound qualities, which already improve after a month of playing. In fact, I love it, ha!, the Italian one. Let's rediscover EKO.... (Show more)
