A brand new design, largely thanks to luthier Maurice Dupont, makes these Tramontane guitars unbeatable in terms of value for money!
While the models of the various ranges of Lâg acoustics change regularly, it is to meet the desire of French luthiers to constantly improve their guitars. Admittedly, it can be unsettling not to find the same model year after year at retailers, but if it means accessing instruments that are always more efficient, pleasant to play, with intense sound qualities, who could complain?
This is the case with this brand new T170 which, positioned in the middle of the Tramontane series, has benefited from many innovations, most of which are due to luthier Maurice Dupont who has been in charge of the design and manufacturing supervision of Lâg guitars for several months now. And the man with the fairy fingers has worked miracles! Including, notably, a redesigned bracing tested several times until achieving perfect sound balance. The success was such that this new design has been extended to the T70 and T270 models, which should be available soon.
When you pick up this T170, you are immediately impressed by the solid cedar top, which gives it a warm appearance but also a refined look thanks, among other things, to the satin varnish of the finest effect. As always, there is an asymmetrical rosette design with the Occitan cross that contributes to its "classy" appearance. The back and sides, also with a satin finish, are made of khaya, an African mahogany, which pairs perfectly with the cedar top, both in terms of color and sound. In other words, the best of both worlds. For the rest, you will find the usual (for Lâg!) graphite nuts and black oil-bath tuners.
The feel, whether it is the dreadnought or auditorium model, is "obvious" as it proves easy and comfortable to handle. And the neck profile, thin and nicely rounded, certainly contributes to this. You know, the kind of neck that immediately gives you the feeling of playing well! Fingerstyle players (and also smaller players!) will certainly opt for the auditorium format, which is ideally suited to this technical style. On the other hand, rhythm and power enthusiasts will definitely choose the dreadnought. In both cases, they will appreciate the balance between bass and treble even if the cedar top somewhat reinforces the mid frequencies. This explains the warm sound of these models.
