A "Press Patch Box," or press box, is an audio splitter specially designed for the requirements of press conferences. Separate inputs allow connection of either a microphone or line signal (mixer console output).
Also available in a stereo version (PPB20S). A high-end input signal amplifier with a balanced, ground-isolated input allows level adjustment over a wide range. Twenty XLR/m connectors, balanced via a transformer and equipped with individual drive circuits for each pair, serve as outputs for video cameras or other recording devices.
The nominal output level is +4 dBu at 600 ohms. Additionally, channels 19 and 20 each feature a TRS jack socket for balanced or unbalanced signals and an RCA socket (nominal level of -10 dBu).
If more than 20 outputs are required, additional PPB20 units can be connected in cascade via a BUS IN/OUT connector located on the back of the device. Signal monitoring is done using a row of 10 LEDs (display covering the range from -40 to +10 dB, with the 0 dB display corresponding to a +4 dBu output) and an adjustable headphone amplifier.
The PPB20 includes an integrated shielded power supply unit. An additional DC input allows operation on battery or backup power supply. PW4 is a backup power supply suitable for two PPB20 units.
