The Behringer DEEPMIND 12D captures the spirit of the DeepMind series in a keyboard-less version, designed to naturally fit into a 19-inch rack (rack ears included). It's an ideal solution if you already control your gear via a master keyboard, external sequencer, or computer environment, while retaining the character and presence of a true polyphonic analog synthesizer.
Thanks to its 12-voice polyphony and studio-quality effects, the DEEPMIND 12D is aimed at experienced musicians as well as producers seeking a versatile module: deep pads, evolving textures, cutting leads, analog basses, and moving soundscapes. It is particularly well-suited for electro, techno, ambient, synthwave, pop, and sound design for visuals, with equally natural use in studio and live settings (MIDI control and automation).
The sound engine is based on subtractive analog synthesis with 2 oscillators per voice and a sync mode to enhance attack and harmonic density. Waveforms include sawtooth and square/pulse with pulse width modulation on OSC1, as well as square/pulse with pulse width modulation on OSC2, complemented by a Noise Generator to broaden the palette (percussions, wind sounds, textures). Filtering combines a low pass filter with selectable 12 dB or 24 dB slope and resonance, and a 6 dB high pass filter with bass boost to precisely sculpt the low end.
On the modulation side, each voice features 2 LFOs (7 waveforms) with key sync, MIDI sync, and envelope auto-triggering, as well as 3 ADSR envelopes dedicated to the VCF, VCA, and modulation. The 8-channel modulation matrix (19 sources and over 130 destinations, including effects parameters) turns the DEEPMIND 12D into a motion machine, perfect for lively patches. For rhythmic creation, you have a 32-step sequencer (adjustable scan speed, MIDI sync) and an arpeggiator. Finally, editing is facilitated by direct access to parameters via 26 sliders and one switch per function, an LCD screen, and full control via iPad/PC/Mac, with built-in Wifi.
