The Behringer ODYSSEY is an ultra-affordable tribute to the legendary ARP synthesizer of the 1970s, designed to recapture the "hands-on" spirit of vintage machines while integrating seamlessly into contemporary workflows. Its purely analog signal path and front panel controls reflect the philosophy of historic synths: shaping sound in real-time, by touch, without detours. The result is an expressive, vibrant instrument tailored for vintage-typical timbres as well as more modern sounds.
With its slider-rich interface and immediate response, the ODYSSEY targets both motivated beginners and experienced users seeking a true analog synth to manipulate. It excels in electro, techno, synthwave, pop, ambient, and sound design: sharp leads, punchy basses, modulation effects, sound effects, and hypnotic sequences. On stage, dedicated controls and pressure-sensitive buttons encourage expressive performance, while in the studio it connects easily via USB/MIDI.
The ODYSSEY is based on analog subtractive synthesis with 2 true analog oscillators and an architecture designed for modulation: sawtooth and square/pulse waveforms, pulse width modulation, and sinusoidal/square LFOs to animate the signal. The filter is especially versatile thanks to its 3 selectable VCF modes (MKI 2 poles 4023, MKII 4 poles 4035, MKIII 4 poles 4075), allowing a shift from a more open character to a tighter, more powerful response. The 32-step sequencer (with 64 memories) and arpeggiator multiply playing ideas, while the pink/white noise generator, Sample & Hold, and Lag processor provide an ideal playground for organic textures. To finalize the sound, the built-in Klark Teknik FX (reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifter, multi-effects) add width, depth, and movement. Direct access is ensured by 35 sliders and 25 switches, complemented by 3 pressure-sensitive buttons dedicated to pitch and modulation for expressive control.
