Born in the late 1970s, the Wasp became known for its unconventional approach and instantly recognizable sonic character. The Behringer WASP DELUXE captures the spirit of the original model by relying on a meticulous reproduction of the "Wasp Deluxe" circuits, while offering more flexible use in a modern setup. The result: a compact, ultra-inspiring synth capable of shifting from a proudly vintage sound to more futuristic textures with disarming simplicity.
The WASP DELUXE is aimed at beginners who want to explore analog synthesis without getting lost in menus, as well as experienced users looking for a module with strong character. Perfect for techno, electro, EBM, synthwave, ambient, or sound design, it excels in dynamic basslines, aggressive leads, and modulated effects. Thanks to its Eurorack format and audio input, it also becomes an excellent tool for experimentation with external sources and enriching a modular system.
The Behringer WASP DELUXE is a monophonic analog synthesizer based on an architecture faithful to the original, with an authentic analog VCF/VCA chain for an organic response. It features a dual digital oscillator offering sawtooth and pulse waveforms, with adjustable pulse width, as well as a noise source to thicken timbres or feed more abrasive textures.
Its analog multimode filter (low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch) opens a wide playground, from deep warmth to sharp sweeps, with expressive resonance. Modulation is provided by a 6-waveform LFO to animate pitch and filter, complemented by two analog envelopes dedicated to the VCF and VCA, ideal for percussive attacks and more evolving movements.
On the integration side, the 3.5 mm audio input allows passing an external source through the processing section. The WASP DELUXE can also be used as a full Eurorack synth (70 HP) and offers a 16-voice Poly Chain function (up to 16 units) to stack multiple machines and create a polyphonic ensemble. Finally, MIDI and USB-MIDI connectivity facilitate control via sequencer, controller, or DAW, both in studio and on stage.
