Whether you are a motivated beginner or an experienced musician, the BeatStep Pro facilitates rhythmic and melodic composition. It excels in electro, techno, synthwave, ambient, IDM, or hip-hop styles, and shines in live performance thanks to its robust synchronization. In the studio, it becomes the brain of your synths, modular gear, and MIDI instruments for a frictionless creative flow.

Features and Innovations

The sequencing engine combines two independent monophonic step sequencer tracks and a powerful 16-track drum sequencer. The Swing and Randomizer functions inject groove and controlled variations, while the ergonomics mixing pads, encoders, and transport controls ensure instant usability. On the connectivity side, each sequencer offers CV outputs of 1V/Oct and 10V Gate, complemented by 8 dedicated Drum Gates, a Clock In/Out, USB, and MIDI via mini-jack (adapters included). The LED screen and step indicators provide clear visibility on stage and in the studio.

The product inspires confidence due to its weight, numerous metal parts, and plastics that also seem solid. The functions are numerous, so of course I expect a relatively long learning phase, but everything seems designed to make the use intuitive and clear. The price at the time of my purchase seems fair (it is 30% lower than the brand's recommended retail price). I wouldn't have said no to a more comprehensive software "bundle", but Ableton Live Lite and Analog Lab Intro suit me well.

Not used much at the moment. BSP is quite a handful. As for Midi Control and its firmware. Also complicated. You have to look for certain parameters. Good product nonetheless. By the way, it can be reset easily..
