Description

This is where it all started. During the early Oasis tours, Noel Gallagher played various Gibson and Epiphone guitars, but the early 80s Epiphone Rivieras really stood out. The look and sound of these instruments gave the ultimate live experience to those seeing the ultimate live rock?n?roll band. Epiphone is honored to welcome Noel Gallagher back to the core line up with the Epiphone Noel Gallagher Riviera in stunning Dark Wine Red finish. With the original still in the artist?s collection, Epiphone was granted access and, as a result, has included many historical elements with this new model. The color and finish are a close match to original models from that era, while Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO? pickups ensure the sound matches the looks. A SlimTaper ? neck is completed by the inclusion of a volute. Extra touches such as historically accurate ?E? appointments on the pickguard and truss rod cover and a brown soundhole label give this guitar a vintage feel. Complete with an Epiphone hardshell case, the guitar is finished off with a replica artist signature on the back of the headstock.

Use
An excellent Epiphone. I had a 339 a few years ago that I eventually sold due to lack of feeling, but this signature model is really amazing for the price paid. First of all, thanks to Woodbrass who sent it to me set up, that counts a lot in the discovery of the first minutes with a guitar. I just had to lower the action, a matter of taste. The guitar is beautiful. Although I'm not a big fan of "Dark Wine," when you discover it, it makes you dream. The handling is easy. I want to specify that this model has a neck with an amazing "Slim C" profile. I have very small hands and I was unpleasantly surprised - at first - by the first handling. The neck is certainly thin but fills the palm of the hand well. However, I am very comfortable in my playing, in a few minutes I went from "damn, I'm going to have to send it back" to "what an exceptional neck!", it remains a personal appreciation. Otherwise, the guitar is a bit heavier and more massive than my favorite Telecaster, but I mainly play sitting down and it remains lighter than a Les Paul. In return, it has a great sustain that impressed me. The pickups are really excellent and very balanced, you can very easily get the sound of Oasis's first 2 albums with a slight overdrive. The case provided with the guitar is of excellent quality, also beautiful. The frets have no defects and do not catch, the Indian laurel fingerboard is perfect. One can regret the rosewood, personally it doesn't bother me. If I had to find faults, they remain minor: the tuners feel "cheap" as well as the "witch hat" knobs, one of which, the treble pickup volume, was poorly positioned and resistant to touch when unpacked. In the end, it's a quality guitar that I will keep with great pleasure. Thanks to Woodbrass!... (Show more)
