INFINITE takes the idea of "piano-type" sustain and transposes it to guitar through sampling: you capture a moment, then sustain and evolve it in layers. Within the TC Electronic range, it's a pedal designed for creating soundscapes, with the brand's DNA: refined processing, intuitive approach, and TonePrint compatibility to go far beyond front-panel settings.
INFINITE is aimed at guitarists (and bassists) who want to enrich their playing without using a full looper: ambient, post-rock, indie, pop, worship, film music, modern jazz, sound design... It's the perfect tool for intros/outros, transitions between songs, sustained harmonies, and studio "beds." On a live pedalboard, it excels when you need a stable sonic background while keeping your hands on the instrument.
The interface is immediate: DECAY controls the duration of the sustain layer's fade-out, FADE IN the arrival of new layers, and LEVEL the sustain volume. The FX TYPE selector accesses layer modes (L1/L2/L3/Infinite) as well as the 3 TonePrint slots (TP1, TP2, TP3) to recall your creations or artist presets. Two switches complete the ergonomics: LATCH/MOMEN (latching or momentary like a sustain pedal) and DRY/VERB to activate the built-in reverb. The effects loop (Send/Return) lets you add, for example, fuzz, pitch shifter, or extreme modulation only on the pad, while the direct signal remains playable and clear.
The output is decidedly "pad"-like: a stable layer, ideal for building harmonies, thickening a chord, or creating a drone. The dynamics depend greatly on your attack at the moment of capture, then INFINITE lets you shape the evolution (fade-in, release, level) to stay musical live or in the studio. The Analog-Dry-Thru helps preserve your direct tone, and the reverb/modulation combo quickly transforms a simple chord into an immersive texture. Regarding known uses, the pedal has notably been spotted in setups by artists like John Mayer and Victor Wooten, proving it fits well in both melodic and groove contexts.
