More than ever, producers create songs using electronic instruments, such as synthesizers and drum machines. And now, in partnership with Dave Smith Instruments, we have created a new monophonic synthesizer for music production and live performances: the TORAIZ AS-1. This synth is the second musical instrument of our range TORAIZ which brings new creative possibilities for the studio and the stage, and its exit follows that of our very appreciated live sampler TORAIZ SP-16 in August 2016.

TORAIZ AS-1 uses a true, fully programmable analog synth based on Dave Smith Instruments' Prophet-6 independent analog synthesizer circuit - a modern overhaul of their classic Prophet-5. Working closely with Dave Smith himself, we have created a synth that produces a powerful analog sound that promises to be an ideal complement for professional producer installations as beginners.

We used our experience in designing DJ equipment and production equipment to develop the user interface and performance features of the new synthesizer. Among its intuitive controls, the AS-1 features parameter knobs that allow you to do subtle and deep modulation in the tone of your music to create your own custom sounds.. You can use the touchpad keyboard and the cursor button to manipulate sounds during your performance. And it will be easy for you to manipulate the seven built-in effects, which - in addition to an all-new digital distortion - all come from the Prophet-6 synth.

You can connect the TORAIZ AS-1 synth to the TORAIZ SP-16 live sampler via MIDI and use the sophisticated sampler sequencer to create even more complex patterns with the powerful analog sounds you've created in the synthesizer. Together, the two TORAIZ instruments can be connected to your DJM mixer via Pro DJ Link and MIDI, to create an installation where the CDJs play the song, the TORAIZ SP-16 adds loops and one-shots, and the TORAIZ AS -1 generates unique analog leads synchronized to the BPM of the music.

The true analog sound of Dave Smith Instruments' Prophet-6

Create your own powerful bass sound and incisive mid-range with the synthetic engine at the heart of the TORAIZ AS-1, which is based on the independent analog circuit of the Prophet-6, the cult synthesizer by Dave Smith Instruments. The TORAIZ AS-1 has 2 Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) with triangle waves, sawtooth and pulse continuously variable. Sculpt your sound using its 2 Voltage Controlled Filters (VCF) also borrowed from the Prophet-6: a 4-pole resonance low-pass filter that can oscillate by itself, and a 2-pole resonance high-pass filter.

Fully programmable and with 495 presets

Use the TORAIZ AS-1 to create unique sounds using two VCOs, two VCFs, one VCA two EG, and one LFO, then record each sound and its parameters as a program, so you can access them later. There are 495 preset programs to give you inspiration, each with a different sound and a 64 step sequence that can be edited separately. In addition, you can also store up to 495 of your own programs in the 5 user banks, and you can assign up to 13 programs such as Quick Programs to each key on the keyboard, so you can instantly call them back at any time.

Intuitive user interface and performance features

Create unique sounds and phrases using the intuitive slider button and touchpad keyboard. Use features like the 64 step sequencer, arpeggiator and Scale mode for even more creative possibilities in your performances.

* Keyboard and Scale Mode:
Use the touchpad keyboard to play with the sounds you create. Use Scale Mode to change the notes assigned to the keys, choosing from 21 built-in arpeggios. You do not need to master the music theory. Just choose the range you want to play in and the TORAIZ AS-1 will ensure that your performances are always in perfect harmony.

* Cursor button:
Add dynamics to your performance by raising and lowering the slider with your finger to manipulate a choice of 7 different parameters. Change the pitch of the 2 oscillators at the same time, adjust the amount of effects and more. The slider button will undoubtedly become an essential tool for your live performances.

* Arpeggiator:
Play a repeating chord pattern by holding notes on the touchpad keyboard. Modify it in real time, either by octave or by changing its tone by semitone. Experiment with combinations of different scales, or match the range with that of a song being played.

* Sequencer 64 steps:
Use the 64-step sequencer to record patterns in steps. Change the musical tone of a pattern in real time by pressing the corresponding key on the keyboard during playback. Find inspiration from a preset sequence pattern and use the Sequence Lock function to play on the keyboard and quickly change the sound without changing the pattern that is played.
