Description

Essential Information About the UA 4-710d Mic/Line Preamp

  • 4 "Twin-Finity" channels with continuous tube/transistor blending and phase coherence for textures ranging from creamy to punchy.

  • 1176-style compression on each channel, with "Fast"/"Slow" modes and true bypass to shape vocals, bass, drums, and synths.

  • 24-bit A/D conversion up to 192 kHz with optical ADAT and AES/EBU (DB-25) outputs and Word Clock synchronization.

  • Up to 8 analog channels to conversion with switchable 8-channel limiter to protect against peaks.

The Universal Audio DNA, the "Twin-Finity" Concept in a 4-Channel Version

The UA 4-710d adopts the acclaimed 710 "Twin-Finity" principle and expands it into four high-end mic/line preamps. Each channel combines a 100% tube signal path and a 100% transistor signal path, awarded a TEC Award, to offer a unique sonic palette within the UA range and modernize the approach to classic analog preamps.

For Hybrid Studios Demanding Character and Flexibility

Whether recording a vocalist, a brass section, a DI bass, or a drum kit, the 4-710d is designed for engineers and producers who want to choose their tonal color at the source. Its ADAT/AES digital outputs facilitate instant expansion of your audio interface, from ambitious home studios to professional studios.

Key Features for Controlled Sound from Source to Converter

"Tone-Blending" Tube/Transistor Mix

Each channel offers a Class A tube path (285 V) and a solid-state path. The phase-locked blend knob allows precise control over the tonal character-from rich harmonic warmth to the sharper punch of transistors.

Built-in 1176-Inspired Compression

One compressor per channel, with true "Fast" and "Slow" positions and bypass, enables thickening vocals, stabilizing bass, or adding density to synths and overheads without additional rack gear.

Professional Conversion and Synchronization

24-bit A/D conversion up to 192 kHz feeds two ADAT ports and an AES/EBU (DB-25) output. A switchable 8-channel limiter protects the converters, while BNC Word Clock I/O ensures stable digital integration.

Comprehensive Connectivity and Studio Ergonomics

Features include XLR mic inputs, XLR/jack line inputs, front-panel instrument inputs, and send/return per channel for inserting your favorite effects. All housed in a 19-inch 2U rack chassis, road-ready and studio-friendly.
