The new Guild 40 Standard series features our new Vintage Gloss nitro finish. This brand-new finish is an ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer with both satin and glossy qualities that highlight the natural beauty of the tonewoods. With a texture even smoother than a satin nitro finish, Vintage Gloss presents a soft, silky hand-sprayed coating that gives each guitar a worn vintage feel and sound, with a modern and elegant appearance. This new iteration of the D-40 Standard delivers the ultimate dreadnought sound. With its solid Sitka spruce top and solid African mahogany back and sides, the D-40 Standard offers remarkable volume, clarity, and sustain, perfect for everything from vocal accompaniment to solo work, and many other "unplugged" applications. The D-40 Standard exudes vintage charm with timeless appointments such as a tortoise shell celluloid pickguard, white ABS binding, and the Guild logo inlay on the headstock. Guild adds a scalloped Adirondack brace forward for more power, nuance, and responsiveness. Combined with a Sitka spruce top and African mahogany back and sides, this bracing provides a punchy sound with a smooth top end. An Indian rosewood fingerboard crowns the comfortable mahogany neck with a C profile. Premium materials such as an Indian rosewood bridge, 20:1 open-gear tuners, as well as a hand-cut bone nut and saddle are included for the D-40 Standard. In addition to the classic natural finish, the new Guild 40 Standard series launches the new Pacific Sunset Burst. Inspired by Guild’s Southern California home, this new finish embodies casual elegance with a subtle glow. Each D-40 Standard comes with a Guild Archtop wooden case with Humicase humidification system.
