Essential Information About the MOD REX Pedal

  • Up to 4 simultaneous modulation sections, all time-synchronized to create complex rhythmic movements.
  • Ultra-creative chaining : one MOD section (Vibrato, Flanger, Chorus, or Phaser) + Tremolo + Modulated Panning + Modulated Filter.
  • 100 storable presets to instantly switch from subtle patterns to spectacular kinetic sequences.
  • Designed for modern setups : full stereo, Tap Tempo, external sync (MIDI Clock / pulse clock), and MIDI control of all parameters.

"Kinetic" Modulation Designed as an Instrument

The MOD REX doesn't just add a chorus or phaser "on top" of your sound: it approaches modulation as a moving material, with synchronized sections capable of transforming a sustained chord into a pulsed texture, or a simple riff into a living pattern. The central idea is to compose modulations over time, much like layering rhythmic tracks, to achieve a sense of groove, rotation, and continuous variation.

This approach sets it apart on a pedalboard: where classic modulation colors a sound, the MOD REX can become the engine of your arrangement, both in the studio and live, while remaining usable with more restrained settings.

Who It's For and Which Styles the MOD REX Excels In

The MOD REX is aimed equally at guitarists, keyboardists, electronic musicians, or anyone seeking synchronized modulations that are immediately musical. It suits intermediate and advanced levels very well but remains accessible if you start from a preset and gradually adjust the depth and speed of the sections.

In terms of styles, it excels in ambient, post-rock, indie, funk, electro, synthwave, and modern pop, but it can also add a very organic dimension to blues and rock when modulation is applied with subtlety. In live contexts, stereo and presets allow seamless transitions from wide chorus to chopped, synchronized tremolo without interrupting the flow of the song. In the studio, it becomes a texture box to animate clean guitars, synth pads, or bass lines (with very expressive modulated filtering).

Sections, Tempo Sync, Presets, and Control: A Pedal Built for Advanced Rigs

The MOD REX offers up to four simultaneous modulation sections, synchronized to work together. The MOD section provides a choice of Vibrato, Flanger, Chorus, or Phaser, complemented by standalone Tremolo, Modulated Panning, and Modulated Filter sections. Each section features 9 tempo subdivision options, useful for combining, for example, an eighth-note tremolo with slower panning, or conversely creating fast, hypnotic interweavings.

To shape the movement, you have 4 LFO waveforms per section: enough to go from smooth oscillations to sharper, rhythmic variations. Sound management is at the heart of the concept: 100 storable presets facilitate "song-by-song" use, with quick and coherent changes in real conditions.

Regarding sync and control, the pedal includes Tap Tempo but can also lock to an external system via MIDI Clock or an external pulse clock. Full MIDI control of all parameters and preset recall make it an excellent choice for switched pedalboards, stereo rigs, or hybrid guitar/synth setups. Finally, an expression pedal input adds a performance dimension (for example, evolving the intensity of a modulated filter), and an external pedal input is provided for preset changes with the "bank up" function.

Sound

The MOD REX covers a spectrum ranging from subtle and wide modulation (wide chorus, discreet vibrato, silky phaser) to marked and rhythmic movements (synchronized tremolo, pulsed panning, expressive modulated filter). What stands out is the sensation of depth and organized movement : effects don't clash but complement each other thanks to synchronization and subdivisions, helping maintain a musical output even with multiple active sections.

In stereo, modulated panning and section combinations can create a very wide soundstage, ideal for intros, atmospheric bridges, or bringing life to clean parts. With an expression pedal, the MOD REX becomes particularly responsive to playing and context: you can move from a background texture to a foreground effect without changing presets, simply by "playing" the modulation.
