With the OD5, Austrian Audio presents an active dynamic microphone optimized for use on instruments. Handcrafted in Vienna and subject to the strictest quality assurance processes, the OD5 instrument microphone once again boasts some special features, as is typical of Austrian Audio. The most notable is the "Swivel Joint" mechanism. To simplify positioning the microphone on the instrument, Austrian Audio engineers developed a swivel joint system for the microphone head that allows a 220° rotation of the pickup pattern. The microphone can be easily aligned precisely to the sound source or according to personal preference, without having to clumsily adjust or loosen the microphone stand. The active dynamic circuit is a feature already familiar from the OD505 vocal microphone. It ensures that even long cables have no negative effect on the signal. In addition, the active dynamic design allows for the integration of a suitable high-pass filter.
