Essential Information About the Strymon Flint Pedal (2nd Generation)
- Cult duo tremolo + reverb combined in a compact format, inspired by American amps from the 1960s.
- Three tremolos (Harmonic 61, Tube 63, Photo 65) and three reverbs (Spring 60s, Plate 70s, Hall 80s) to cover everything from surf to ambient textures.
- Modern control: full MIDI, 300 presets, stereo inputs/outputs, USB-C, expression, dedicated boost/cut per side.
- Studio-grade audio: Class A JFET input, 24-bit/96 kHz converters, selectable true or buffered bypass.
The Legendary 60s Amp Duo, Reinvented by Strymon
In the sixties, the tremolo + reverb combination shaped surf, spaghetti westerns, and many soundtracks. Flint carries on this heritage by elevating it to today's stage and studio standards. A flagship of the Strymon range, it condenses two effects "at the source" of inspiration, with an immediate workflow and finely modeled proprietary algorithms.
Who Is It For and Which Styles?
Whether you are a careful beginner, session guitarist, or texture architect, Flint fits everywhere: minimalist pedalboards, stereo rigs, amp loops, keyboards, and synths in the studio. From swampy blues to indie rock, modern pop to cinematic ambient, it adds depth, movement, and cohesion to the mix without overpowering your tone.
Features and New Additions in V2
Each side has dedicated controls, with a 3-position selector for tremolo and reverb modes. The V2 extends the
Speed range down to very slow speeds (~=1 Hz) for wide, musical pulses, adds an adjustable
reverb pre-delay, and independent secondary
boost/cut +/-3 dB functions. The digital core uses a more powerful ARM DSP for greater nuance, while the
Class A JFET input ensures exemplary attack, dynamics, and feel. On the control side, full
MIDI compatibility via TRS or USB-C allows automation of switches and knobs, synchronization of tremolo speed to MIDI clock, and recall of up to
300 presets.
Sound
The
Harmonic 61 tremolo sculpts a warm sway between lows and highs, ideal for vibrant pads. The
Tube 63 offers the flexibility of a bias tremolo, smooth and singing, while the
Photo 65 delivers a vintage-grain percussive chopper. On the reverb side,
Spring 60s snaps and "drips" with authentic twang,
Plate 70s opens up the high end for silky leads, and
Hall 80s unfolds clear, enveloping rooms. The response remains transparent, dynamic, and reactive to guitar volume, with a wide and precise stereo image.
