The JHS Pedals 3 Series Tape Delay is a simplified and faithful reinterpretation of this classic effect.
The Mix control allows you to adjust the amount of dry signal blended with the echo signal (in the original model, this was called Echo Volume). The Tape Speed simulates the acceleration and deceleration of the tape motor of the RE-201 and determines the duration of the delay effect. The Repeats control ranges from a single repetition to multiple, evoking the sound of a tape recording with progressive loss of fidelity on each pass.
Finally, when the Flutter switch is activated (up position), it reproduces the natural mechanical wear of a tape machine over time. This creates a slight modulation, a “warble” effect, and fluctuations in the echo signal, which are sought-after characteristics by many musicians.
