Description

Essential Information About the PL21 Salmiéri Percussion Microphone

  • 3-mic pack Series 21 designed for stage and mobile studio use.
  • High-pressure electret capsule supporting up to 140 dB to preserve dynamics.
  • Natural and linear sound that respects the timbre of your percussion instruments.
  • Dual wired/UHF use with mini XLR to XLR adapter (48 V required) and dedicated bodypack compatibility.

From Series 21 to the stage: the Salmiéri spirit

Derived from Series 21, the PL21 Salmiéri was designed to meet the real constraints of percussionists on stage: high sound levels, multiple sources, and timbre requirements. Its electret capsule and balanced frequency response provide faithful reproduction, whether for tight skins, deep drums, or lamellophone and metallic resonance percussion.

For whom and for which percussion instruments?

Ideal for percussionists, drummers, and backliners seeking quick and stable capture. It adapts to congas, bongos, djembes, cajons, timpani, rototoms, tambourines, tablas, batas, darbukas, bendirs, bodhrans, toms, snares, drums, surdos, talking drums, udus, steel drums... Its discreet mounting allows multiple mic placements without weighing down the kit.

Key features for reliable sound capture

High acoustic pressure and great linearity

With a maximum SPL of 140 dB, the PL21 handles the most powerful hits without distortion. Its linear response highlights attack, warmth, and natural harmonics for easier mixing and minimal equalization.

Quick mounting and secure hold

The flexible gooseneck allows precise positioning close to the drumhead or soundboard. The lightweight rubber clamp protects the instrument and ensures excellent vibration isolation, reducing unwanted noise and feedback.

Wired or UHF, depending on your setup

Supplied with a mini XLR to XLR adapter for wired use (48 V phantom power required), the microphone can also operate in UHF mode via a dedicated instrument bodypack (sold separately), convenient for mobile setups and busy stages.

With these microphones used in concerts, sound engineers quickly make their adjustments without any problem. Tested on various percussion instruments but also on a diatonic accordion: the sound is faithful in all cases, once the right positioning is found (the examples on the packaging are not the best!). On this subject, however, it can be regretted that the jaws of the clamps do not open enough to adapt to all situations: I had to mount a small bracket on my cajon (for front sound capture) and on my pandeiro to be able to hang the clamp. The provided windshields are essential outdoors (sensitivity to wind). In short, a set of 3 effective microphones at a low price. The reliability over time remains to be seen...... (Show more)

Perfect low panel on perceived instrument, I recommend despite the price. Beware of phantom power to be provided additionally

Well suited for percussion, the only drawback is the clamp is too small.
